Proverbs Teaching Series

Life is a journey. And the direction we are heading is shaped by the choices we make every single day.

Are these choices wise? Or are they foolish? Are we wise? Or are we foolish? Wisdom is about taking the truth about God and ourselves and applying it to the everyday matters of life. And that is what the ancient Book of Proverbs is about. Through the Book of Proverbs, God coaches us with the wisdom we need to make choices in this messy and often complicated world. Join us on Sunday as we explore this remarkable book of wisdom together.

Book Highlight | Strange New World by Carl Truman

How did the world arrive at its current, disorienting state of identity politics, and how should the church respond?

In light of the many questions we have on these issues, we are highlighting the book Strange New World by Carl Trueman. Carl is a professor of biblical and religious studies at Grove City College and he shows how influences ranging from traditional institutions to technology and pornography moved modern culture toward an era of “expressive individualism.” Investigating philosophies from the Romantics, Nietzsche, Marx, Wilde, Freud, and the New Left, he outlines the history of Western thought to the distinctly sexual direction of present-day identity politics and explains the modern implications of these ideas on religion, free speech, and personal identity. Pick up a copy on Sunday at the Connect Desk or click HERE to order from Amazon.

Equip | What Does Proverbs Say to Men and Women?

In order to make this event as accessible as possible, child care will be available for infants through 5th grade. And to make this event as fun as possible, we will be holding a church BBQ starting at 5 pm in the church parking lot, along with fun and games for the kids.

Fundraiser Event | More Than Conquerors Surf

More Than Conquerors Surf (MTCSurf) is a faith-based organization created by surfers who want to make a difference in the lives of at-risk youth.

What started as a passion for helping kids in Mexico’s orphanages has now become a local nonprofit with a heart to share the stoke of surfing with foster youth on the coast of California. They believe that surfing provides foster youth with the opportunity to grow as individuals, gain community, and build faith. They want every child and teen who surfs with them to walk away knowing that they are loved, fully capable, and have the ability to overcome any current and future challenges they might face.

It is their hope to be able to share this message with children and teens in foster care through surfing.

Ways to Get Involved

Join them at their first fundraiser event of the year | June 17th from 6-8:30 PM @ Revolution Board Co. Learn more HERE!

FamilyLife’s Weekend to Remember | November 4th – 6th

Marriage is a lifelong adventure of growing together through every age and stage of life.

The happiest couples are those who commit to learning skills that help them weather difficult seasons and deal confidently with relationship challenges. It’s your turn to make a great marriage happen.

The Weekend to Remember marriage getaway is not a large group counseling session or small group discussion. Breathe easy: You’re not asked to share intimate details of your relationship with anyone.

Instead, you’ll listen to engaging talks from marriage experts, then get alone with your spouse in guided projects to practically apply concepts you’ve heard. And you’ll bring home powerful communication tools from the Bible―and meaningful memories that will last for years to come.

“My wife and I went to the Weekend to Remember with fairly moderate expectations but we were amazed by the experience. The quality and relevance of content, the honesty and wisdom of the leadership, and the thoughtfulness of the whole weekend were surprisingly powerful. We would recommend it to any couple, no matter how long you have been married.” – Tim Chaddick

*Some of our staff and some who attend Reality Ventura are already signed up and excited to attend!

When: November 4th – 6th, 2022 Where: Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort & Spa

Register HERE When registering, enter the group name: realitygroup to receive a $100 discount!

Tip: Reserve your hotel room at least three weeks before the getaway to guarantee a room at a discounted rate for Weekend to Remember guests. After you register, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to book your room!

Equip | Why Trust the Bible?

“You don’t honestly believe all that stuff in the Bible?!”

Challenged by her friends, and later as a student by her lecturers at the University of Oxford, Amy Orr-Ewing was determined to leave no stone unturned in her questioning as to whether the Bible is reliable. In this special Equip session, Amy addresses and answers ten tough questions about the Bible that are relevant for all of us today. Sensitively and persuasively, she will address current issues and arguments about the Bible, showing us that we have no need to fear critical questions and have every reason to trust the Bible today.

Dr. Amy Orr-Ewing is an international author, speaker and theologian who addresses the deep questions of our day with meaningful answers found in the Christian Faith. Amy is the author of multiple books including ‘Where is God in All the Suffering?’ and bestselling, ‘Why Trust The Bible?’ Over the last twenty years, Amy has given talks and answered hundreds of questions on university campuses around the world. She has also addressed Parliamentarians in the Speakers Rooms and Chapel at the UK Parliament and staffers on Capitol Hill, and at the West Wing of the White House. Amy is interested in the intersection of questions of meaning and faith with the marketplace, education, leadership and policymaking. Register HERE, and join us Sunday, July 3rd at 6 pm!

A new Kids Ministry Semester is upon us!

So we are looking for 45 NEW Kids Ministry Volunteers! These are people who want to get connected with other believers, serve in the local church, learn and grow in their gifts, and be a part of making disciples amongst the infants – 5th graders here at Reality Ventura.

There are opportunities to serve twice a month on many of our different teams, including the check-ins team, with babies, in the classrooms, as worship leaders, one-on-one as a special buddy, and more!

Special Buddies Needed

Since relaunching Kids Ministry and moving back inside God has brought many new families to Reality Ventura!

This includes many amazing families with kids who have special needs! These kids have been an absolute joy to have in our RVTA Kids classrooms! However, in order to provide a fuller and more inclusive RVTA Kids experience (as well as allow their parents to go to church) these kids need a one-on-one special buddy to be with them throughout their time in class.

Therefore, RVTA Kids is looking for 8-12 special buddies! These are people who love Jesus, have a heart for kids with special needs, can commit to serving twice a month, and are excited and willing to learn some new skills.

If you are interested in being a special buddy or have further questions, please email Anna HERE.
