Keep reading for what to expect on your first visit.
If it’s your first time attending RVTA, welcome! We are looking forward to meeting you. You’ll want to show up a few minutes early. This will allow you to get registered, checked in, and find your classroom(s). Classes open up 15 minutes before the start of the gathering. Gatherings last about 1 hour and 45 minutes. A small snack is served during Sunday School. Please notify the teacher if your child requires gluten free snacks.
Our class/age breakdowns are as follows:
*We ask that you please check your child into the correct age group*
Infants (babies who are not yet walking)
Toddlers (walkers under the age of 2)
2 Year Olds
3 Year Olds
4 and 5 Year Olds and Kindergarten
Before dropping your kids off to class or nursery, you’ll check them in at our check-in kiosks at the bottom of the stairs.
Reality uses Check-Ins for a safe, speedy, and secure process. Once you’ve registered, check-in is super simple! Each Sunday, you’ll sign into your account using your 10-digit phone number. Your child’s/childrens names will display with the class they are registered to attend. Once each attending child has a checkmark next to their name, click “check-in”. Two name tags will be given for babies and toddlers under two: one for your child and one for their diaper bag. One name tag will print for all children ages 2-5th grade. Finally, two guardian stickers will print out in case more than one person is checking out your children. Each child will be given a different number, and their names and numbers will be on their name tag as well as the guardian sticker. If for any reason we need to contact you during the service, we will post your code in the sanctuary (in red numbers, to the left and right of the screen). In order to pick up and and check out your child, you’ll need to show your guardian sticker so we can match the numbers. Volunteers are instructed not to release your child until a guardian receipt has been presented and verified.
a) RVTA Volunteers have been background checked, fingerprinted via LiveScan, and interviewed by RVTA’s Kids Ministry staff
b) Each RVTA class is staffed with a minimum of two volunteers
c) We ask that you please check your kids into their correct age group.
d) We set a cap in our nursery and preschool classes in order to maintain a safe environment. It is highly recommended that you arrive on time, as our youngest classes have the potential to hit max capacity on busy Sundays. Thank you for your understanding.
e) There are kids-only restrooms located upstairs in our kids area. Female volunteers may enter to assist kids as needed, but adults will not be allowed to use the kids-only restroom themselves. There are restrooms downstairs that you are welcome to use.
*If this is your first time, your child may feel a bit apprehensive about checking into class, and that’s okay! We are glad your family is here, and we want to do our best to make this a safe and loving environment for you and your kids. Separation anxiety/unease can be quite common in the younger ages and usually goes away fairly quickly. However, in certain circumstances, we may talk with you about creating a plan to help your child with the transition. Communication is key!
If your little one is crying, how long would you like the classroom team to comfort them before paging you? Often we are able to comfort and console (and distract) your child within several minutes after you leave. Sometimes it can make the transition more challenging for your child if you stay upstairs and keep peeking through the door. We promise we’ll page you if we need you!
b) Siblings/friends wanting to stay together
Depending on the ages, we may allow siblings to stay together in class for one to two Sundays in order to get comfortable with the environment and routine. After that we will ask you to have each child begin attending their correct age-level class. Each of our classes is specifically designed for that age, and we feel that’s the best place for them.
c) Mom/Dad/Grandpa/Auntie/etc wants to stay
If you (the guardian) feel you need to remain with your child for their first time at Sunday School, you may get a parent visitor tag from a Kids Gathering Coordinator and attend Sunday School with them for one to two Sundays. After that you’ll need to talk with Anna (email@example.com) to discuss next steps.
We welcome you and your child to Reality Ventura! We are glad you are here. You are strongly encouraged to contact Anna Herring (firstname.lastname@example.org) before your first visit so we can learn about your child and create the best plan of action to ensure that their time in Sunday school is a positive one. In addition, we may ask you to attend class with your child for a week or two so that you can get a feel for the routine, and therefore provide us with any info that would be beneficial to know about your child.
Are there certain strategies or plans already in place at home or at school? We want to know about it! Over-communication is great! We want to know everything that can help us love on your child. At this time, we may be able to offer a ‘buddy’ for your child if they need one-on-one care in order to attend class. Contact email@example.com
